Khalid, a fifteen-year-old Muslim boy from Rochdale, is abducted from Pakistan while on holiday with his family. He is taken to Guantanamo Bay and held without charge, where his hopes and dreams are crushed under the cruellest of circumstances. An innocent denied his freedom at a time when Western boys are finding theirs, Khalid tries and fails to understand what's happening to him and cannot fail to be a changed young man.

I teach 8th graders. My students are full of energy and very humorous. I have students that are interested in many different genres of books: everything from manga to suspense to romance. They are hard working kiddos, looking for the best education they can get. Many of my students read a little bit below grade level, which is common at the school I teach at, so I am currently trying to have different reading levels in my classroom library.
